Christopher William Larson, a pro snowboarder with amazing style strapped on his first board as a Hilltop Hotdogger at the age of 6 and never looked back. He was riding and filming with urban street crews by the age of 12 and was a sponsored rider with Dinosaurs Will Die for 13 years.
Chris took his snowboarding to the absolute edge of personal best, a platinum standard of commitment to the moment with an intimidating amount of steeled determination and persistence. He was an inspiration to many and loved to share the sport with even the most inexperienced riders. His kindness and compassion were constant.
Chris brought light and laughter to the people who knew him. He was a seeker who wanted to wake up humanity to a new perspective and commitment to global change. While his heart often hurt for the world, snowboarding was his greatest joy and freedom. The Larson Rides Grommet Grant is an effort to pass on Chris’ love for the sport to new young riders. Each year we will grant a snowboard school scholarship, a season’s pass to Hilltop Ski Area and (we hope!) a board, boots and bindings to a young rider who is inspired to ride.
Send inquiries to larsonridesfund@gmail.com and we will send you application information as soon as it’s available!

Long Live Larson
Listen to the podcast as family and friends share some of their favorite memories of professional snowboarder Chris Larson.
If you didn’t know Larson, then the best way to understand him is that he was someone who came from a loving family, he had loyal friends and he was extremely talented, but he just had a hard time being comfortable. Maybe because he was restless, maybe because he was an old soul, like so many of his friends have said.
Thank you to Mike Dempsey for suggesting the idea for this episode. Thank you to Carrie Hambach for suggesting that Cody dig up an interview he did with Larson back in 2015 and include snippets of it in this episode. And thank you to everyone who told a story for this episode, for being brave enough to record a memory about Larson so close to his passing. Each one is a reminder that life is never just one thing. That it’s made up of all the good and the bad that people do, and together those things create every one of us.
